How To: Change VTEC Solenoid Gasket

Post  GSR402Lx on Thu Jan 17, 2008 10:14 am

I know, I know, this is a very simple DIYer project but atleast I got details picture for those new people who want to know what to do..Think of this as my very, very, very small contribution no necarclub...anyway, here goes.

*Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible if you mess up your car in anyway or form while performing this task.

Many of us have a similar oil leak problem..Most fixed the problem by replacing: Distributor O-ring, valve cover gasket, and vtec solenoid gasket..this is a step by step for the vtec solenoid gasket..

Car done on: 97 GS-R with 97k ish miles

1. DISCONNECT the Neg. battery terminal..it's good practice when dealing with electrical..
2. Tools u'll need

2b. get the correct part..look at the picture

3. PLACE a Rag or towel under the solenoid to catch some oil that will leak out.
Now remove 3 10mm socket screws.

4. the solenoid look like this

5. old and new gasket

6. Clean it out

6b. cap p/n if u want it

7. Put everything back

DONE!! simple..actually VERY SIMPLE..!!

thanks for looking..

Kries,
are there any rules for posting dinky diy guide?? cause i don't want to whore up the space with my dinky guide..i'm sure i'll have more in the future when summer comes..some people might think it's silly to have a super simple diy guide when everyone can do it without looking at pictures and whatnot..
